Let's go Mets!

Brett Baty sent down 4/26
"sent down?" to where?? In classic Brett Baty fashion, he was absolutely raking in spring training this year and then had a very sad opening few weeks. Baty has been sent down to the minor leagues in Syracuse along with Mets legend Hayden Senger. You might be asking: why wouldn't they send down José Azócar? The problem is that Azócar has no more options which means he can't be sent down to the minor leagues without another team snatching him. Additionally, Azócar plays center field and Baty plays infield, and the Mets have had more weakness in center field with Jose Siri being on the injured list. All this sums up with us losing our chance to see Baty's big smile. Sadness.

Lindsanity 4/20
Francisco Lindor. Enough said. JK! For his 250th career home run (6th all time for MLB shortstops behind Jeter @ 261) he walks off the Cardinals on Minecraft Movie Night at Citi field. Rumor has it the last time the Mets swept the Cardinals in four games was in 1986 before winning the World Series!

Who catches? Tyrone Taylor.
With Alvarez out for the count after breaking his hamate the Mets were left to the legendary Luis Torrens. Torrens has been raking but recently has been suffering from a forearm contusion (whatever that means, sounds painful). The Mets were now starting their backup-backup catcher, Hayden Senger, who is known for working at Whole Foods in Nashville during the offseason. [aside: can I just say, Senger sounds like if someone with a regional american accent which I can't place said Kodai Senga's last name.] The question then, who is the backup for Senger?? If he goes down, the Mets were catcherless. The Mets didn't want to call up a prospect because that would mean putting Torrens on the IL. Carlos Mendoza claimed that future World Series MVP Tyrone Taylor (outfield) would be the backup-backup-backup catcher, in case Senger goes down. Rumor has it that Tyrone Taylor (he's a full name type of guy) played catcher in high school at least once.
Congrats to the Lindors! 3/31
Katia and Francisco Lindor have just welcomed their third child, Koa Amani! Bet over on Lindor from here on out for sure. Due to the birth Lindor is not starting in the game today, with Marte taking his leadoff spot. Pretty shocking to see Marte on leadoff for Soto.
The 2025 Mets have BEGUN 3/27
In surprising fashion the Mets lost their opening day game 1-3 against the Astros in Houston. Coming into this season the Mets have a 65.1% (41-22) winning percentage on opening day, the highest in the MLB, despite losing the first 8 opening day games in franchise history. The Mets had lots of lobsters (left on base aka LOB aka lobster) and nearly had a comeback in the 9th when Juan Soto came up down two but with two on. The Mets really made me belive today </3. What's a Mets season without heartbreak?
Bad News 3/11

Niels: "I... I... have... it's very bad news."
Master Oogway: "There's just news. There's no good or bad."
Niels: "Master, your vision... your vision was right. Francisco Alvarez broke his left hamate bone and has to have surgery. He will be out for six to eight weeks."
Master Oogway: "That is bad news... if you do not believe in Luis Torrens and Pete Alonso. Ya gotta believe!!!"
Niels: "The polar bear? Master, that polar bear is not the dragon warrior. He
wasn't even meant to be here. It was an accident."
Master Oogway: "There are no accidents."
Might I propose that we bring back Tomas "Nidoking" Nido. That guy deserves more respect, he was there for us when we needed him most. And might I add, that we need him again. The only issue here is that he does currently play for Detroit.

Goodbye Jose "Candelita" Iglesias 3/8
All good things must come to an end, but why so soon? The 2024 Mets superstar Jose Iglesias aka latin popstar Candelita has announced he is signing a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres. I really thought that we would give him a one or two year deal after his legendary campaign last season because he clearly wanted to come back with us <\3. OMG will forever be on the rotation.

Misc Met Spotlight: Anthony Gose 3/8
Today's spotlight: Anthony Gose. A new lefty pitcher who signed minor league deal with the Mets in December. He was an Olympic silver medalist (in baseball) for the US in Tokyo. At one point he was a member of the Columbus Clippers. In high school he ran sprints, the 100m, 200m and relays up to 4x400m. I think he'll get a chance this year to show his stuff. Last week, in spring training, he pitched a six pitch perfect inning in relief.

Update 2/26: Mets gonna Met
Welp guys, it's that time of year. The Mets are Met-ing. Both Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas are injured. That's two of our starting pitchers on the IL for opening day. This typa thing always seems to happen to the Mets after any big signings. It's okay tho, you just gotta believe in the Jeremy Hefner angel magic pitching lab 🏳️🌈🪽🪽

!!PLEASE RE-SIGN CANDELITA!!
David Stearns if you are reading this. I'M BEGGING YOU PLEASE HE'S THE BEST MET OF ALL TIME. He keeps commenting on all the Mets players instagram posts with his little "omg!" and it's making me so sad that we aren't bringing him back he had such a good year last year.
PETER "POLAR BEAR
PUMPKIN PATCH" ALONSO
He's back baby! 2 years!! I was worried he would abandon us for maple syrup vibes, but the OMG is too strong.

JESSE MF WINKER
Fan favorite "most Jinx of any past or present Met" Jesse Winker has re-signed with the Mets!! LETS GOOOOOOOO!!

We also signed A.J. Minter but he was on the Braves before so I'm sus TBH. I guess it's good that he's on our side now tho. PLs re-sign Candelita Mr. Met.
Pete Alonso
pleeeeeasseee sign pete 🙏🙏🙏
Rickey Henderson
Rest in peace Rickey Henderson. Us Mets fans will never forget his 1999 season with the Mets where he hit .315 and stole 37 bases (at age 40!). Truly the GOAT. Nobody will ever break his record of 1,406 stolen bases.
Update 12/23
Sean Manaea has re-signed with the Mets for 3 years ($75 million). LEt's GOOO! In case you were wondering...Sean Manaea IS brat

Update 12/8
WAKE UP: NEW MET: JUAN SOTO!!

FORMER WASHINGTON NATIONALS AND SAN DIEGO PADRES OUTFIELDER, JUAN SOTO, HAS SIGNED WITH THE NEW YORK METROPOLITANS FOR 15 YEARS $765 MILLION: THE BIGGEST DEAL IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Met! (pitcher) again!!
Clay Holmes, formerly of the Yankees (oof), just signed with the Mets for three years. I had pretty ambivalent opinions on him before, maybe slightly negative because he was a Yankee, but I think now that he's allowed to grow facial hair he'll unlock new potential. His name reminds me of Phillies legend (aside: I know most mets fans hate the phillies, but I can get behind them a bit) Cole Hamels which reminds me of the camel animal. So I'll probably think of him as a camel in my heart. Go Camel! LGM!
Update 12/3
New Met! (pitcher)
Welcome Frankie Montas! He seems like a fun pitcher. When he was on the Reds last year they held a ceremony with him and four other minor league players graduating with their high school diploma :,) It must be so difficult for players (especially those coming from other countries so young) taking their shot at the big leagues but having to sacrifice their education in the process. I think it's cool that the Reds offer this program to their players. A quick search told me the Mets have a similar program. Here's a little SNY clip about it, including Francisco Álvarez's graduation.
Update 11/29
Génesis Cabrera signs minor league deal + holiday special
I'm not reporting on all minor league action here because that's simply too deep of a cut, but I thought I'd mention Génesis Cabrera because he was a major league reliever for the Blue Jays last year. But he posted on instagram that he was in nyc on his off day so he probs will like it here (I say here because I'm in NEW YORK as I write this).
I also figure now that Thanksgiving is over I can post seasons greetings from the REAL boys in blue.
Update 11/19
Jose Siri is a Met!
The Mets have traded relief pitcher Eric Orze to the Rays in exchange for Jose Siri. I remember when he played against the Mets last year he did well and seemed like he was having a lot of fun. So this sounds great to me!
Update 11/13
Francisco Lindor is a Silver Slugger!
He may have been snubbed for the Gold Glove, but the GOAT nabs his 4th Silver Slugger, his 2nd one in a row.
Update 11/11
Francisco Álvarez is a father!
Isn't that crazy? Bro is 2 weeks younger than ME!
